Kellyana Quattrini, Jenna Schmitt and Anapaula Campos of the University of Saskatchewan have replaced the mercury that\u2019s present in traditional fillings with a silver solution. The trio claims that this new solution is stronger when it sets and has an antimicrobial effect once inserted into the tooth. The idea for this product originated in 2011 from a dentist in Saskatoon, who was looking for a way to make it easier to perform filling procedures on children.
