The trio claims that this new solution is stronger when it sets and has an antimicrobial effect once inserted into the tooth. The idea for this product originated in 2011 from a dentist in Saskatoon, who was looking for a way to make it easier to perform filling procedures on children. I’m glad to see there’s still passion coming into the industry.”

Dr. Mummery observes that the students made an important distinction about why they created mercury-free fillings, having done it more due to patient demand than any proven health concerns.

“It’s great to see that these students truly understand that although they have created a product that is in demand by patients, there has been no hard evidence that the presence of mercury in fillings has any negative side effects on the oral health of patients,” she adds. “But from their own admission, their interest in creating a mercury-free solution came from patients who do have some concern about the element being in their fillings.”

“We at Princeview Dental certainly recognize the achievements of these three students, but we do not make any claim to the safety or effectiveness of the product until it is completely tested and regulated by the proper governing bodies,” Dr. Mummery concludes.

Princeview Dental prides itself on being up-to-date on the most recent technologies and innovations within the dental industry.
